The future of education will no longer revolve around degrees”
Looking back at our school days from the early 1900s, what do we truly remember? It certainly wasn’t smart boards, AI-driven courses, virtual classrooms, or a world of limitless knowledge at our fingertips. Back then, learning was confined to chalkboards, textbooks, and the occasional library visit. Fast forward to today, and the education landscape has undergone a seismic shift.
I won’t ask the typical question—”Are these changes for the better?”—because the answer is evident. The change is already happening, and it’s only going to intensify in the coming decade. As someone who’s spent over five years in the EdTech industry, I can confidently say: “the future of education will no longer revolve around degrees”. Instead, the spotlight will shine on skills.
We’re already witnessing this shift. MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) have proven that you don’t need an expensive degree or a prestigious entrance exam to access world-class knowledge. Whether you’re a fresh graduate or a working professional, it’s your ability to perform tasks and solve problems that will define your career trajectory—not the grades you got in school or the college you graduated from. The era of prioritizing skills over qualifications is fast approaching, and this is your chance to act early. Instead of focusing solely on grades and ranks, “invest in yourself”. Learn new skills, master your craft, and prepare for a future where your abilities speak louder than your diplomas.
“In the race for the future, those who adapt will lead; those who cling to the past will be left behind.”
So, take charge now—build your skills and embrace the new age of education. Because in the coming years, it won’t matter what degree you hold. It will matter what you can do.
